Year after year... The planet is becoming warmer and warmer. As a result, more and more water is evaporating from oceans, rivers and lakes. It means, year after year, #rainfall will also increase. But this does NOT mean rainfall will be evenly distributed. Instead, the rains will become more intense and more unpredictable. Some places receive torrential rain within a few hours, leading to floods. Others experience prolonged dry spells and droughts. The recent heavy rainfall in #Mumbai is one such reminder. This is not the "new normal." There will not be any stable situation. The “new normal” will keep changing under a warming planet. Year after year.... these extremes are likely to become more frequent. Year after year..... climate  science is becoming clearer. Are we listening? On finite earth, with finite resources, we can only have finite consumption. #FiniteEarth Energy Swaraj Foundation #Monsoon UN Climate Change #floods Humans Of Mumbai
