🚀 From the rice fields of Northern Italy to sustainable metallurgy 🌱🔬 The SiliziPlants field campaign is underway, and days one and two have been successfully completed. In the rice‑growing region of Piemonte (Northern Italy), one joint team from FEhS – Institute and Minreco GmbH is carrying out soil and water sampling to assess the availability of plant‑available silicon (Si) and its uptake into rice plants. On site are Dr. Lars Gronen and Dr. Hans‑Peter König (FEhS) together with Sebastian Olenik (Minreco), with Thomas Schubert (Minreco) joining the campaign today. The data collected provides a key foundation for the DBU‑funded SiliziPlants project, which aims to replace imported rice husk ash with regional, silicon‑rich plant ashes for sustainable metallurgical applications. A strong start — more to come as the campaign continues. #SiliziPlants #DBU #FEhS #Minreco #NorthernItaly #RiceFields #Sustainability
