Last year, I had the privilege of being invited back to King’s College London as the alumni speaker at graduation. This year, as I mark 10 years since my own graduation, that moment feels even more meaningful. Ten years ago, I remember sitting in this very cathedral, relieved to have reached the end of what had been a very long journey. I was excited to finally put my knowledge to use, but also very aware of the weight of what came next. Being invited back to stand in front of the next generation of graduates was a real full circle moment. It was an honour to return to a place that holds so many memories and to play a small part in helping them cross over from students to doctors. Standing there, looking out at hundreds of graduates sitting where I once sat, gave me the chance to reflect not only on how far I have come, but also on the people, opportunities and support that made that journey possible. I am incredibly grateful to King’s College London for the invitation, and thankful for the opportunity to celebrate and encourage those about to begin the next chapter of their careers. Congratulations to all those graduating today, and to everyone else marking 10 years since graduation alongside me. I hope there has been a moment to pause and reflect on just how far you have come. A special thank you to Professor Ajay Shah, Professor Sam Thenabadu, Professor Emily Williams, Professor Nicki Cohen, Dr Despo Papachristodoulou, Dr Jane Valentine, Dr Steve Thompson and the wider King's College London faculty for making this such a memorable experience. #medicine #graduation #medicalstudent #doctor #kingscollegelondon
