Boards that can only articulate their contribution in terms of oversight are increasingly exposed. The third Board Value Index from @Board Intelligence finds that only 37% of directors globally describe their board as an essential tool for value creation. CEO succession planning is a particular weak point: only 36% say a successor would be ready to step in immediately if required.
