Recently published research work from our Environmental Microbiology & Genomics Laboratory (EMGL), Department of Biotechnology & Medical Engineering , NIT Rourkela Key Research Outcomes : Developed a green, plant-based corrosion inhibitor using Lantana camara L. leaf extract. Formed a protective surface film on mild steel, significantly enhancing corrosion resistance. Inhibited bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation, effectively mitigating microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC). Reduced corrosion current by approximately 80%, demonstrating excellent corrosion inhibition efficiency.
