It was a pleasure to catch up with Paul Sherng Ong, a 4th-year medical student at Newcastle University (MBBS), who previously completed his elective attachment with me three years ago. It is always encouraging to see young medical students remain enthusiastic and committed to medicine. Beyond his medical training, Paul has also shown initiative and leadership through his involvement in founding the Cambridge Global Institute, reflecting a broader interest in global engagement and problem-solving. Moments like this remind me why mentoring students is meaningful, seeing the next generation grow in confidence and purpose is truly rewarding.
