Bridging Program in Sterilization Science. ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️ A Message to Universities: 🇸🇦 In recent years, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare facilities have witnessed a growing demand for qualified professionals in Central Sterile Services Departments (CSSD). This increasing need has led to the expansion of sterilization diploma programs across many universities and educational institutions. As the profession continues to evolve and its role in patient safety becomes increasingly critical, I propose the development and adoption of academic pathways that enable central sterilization technicians and specialists to continue their education and obtain a Bachelor of Science in Sterilization Science. Furthermore, I encourage universities and academic institutions to work toward establishing Master’s and Doctoral programs in Sterilization Science in the future. Such programs would strengthen scientific research, promote innovation, and develop highly qualified leaders and specialists in this vital healthcare discipline. Investing in advanced education for sterilization professionals is an investment in healthcare quality, patient safety, infection prevention, and the overall advancement of healthcare services. The time has come to recognize Sterilization Science as a specialized academic field deserving of comprehensive educational and research opportunities.
