لا أحتفظ برسائل الشكر… لكنني احتفظ بهذه. وصلتني الساعة 2:49 صباحًا. “كنت محتاج أغيّر… والكلمات التي قلتها لي غيّرتني.” قرأت الرسالة أكثر من مرة. ليس لأنها تمدحني… بل لأنها ذكّرتني بسبب اختياري لهذه المهنة. نحن نظن أن أعظم ما نقدمه هو التشخيص الصحيح، أو الدواء المناسب. لكن مع مرور السنوات، اكتشفت أن الناس قد تنسى أسماء الأدوية… ولا تنسى أبدًا كيف جعلتهم يشعرون. قد لا تتذكر حديثًا عابرًا قلته في عيادتك… بينما قد يكون هو بداية فصل جديد في حياة شخص آخر. لهذا أحاول، في كل مريض، وكل طالب، وكل إنسان أقابله… أن أغادر وقد تركت أثرًا، لا مجرد انطباع. فالنجاح الحقيقي ليس عدد المرضى الذين رأيتهم… بل عدد الأرواح التي غادرت وهي تؤمن أنها تستطيع أن تبدأ من جديد. هذه الرسالة ذكّرتني أن أعظم إنجازاتنا… قد لا تُنشر في السيرة الذاتية. بل تُكتب في قلوب الناس. I don’t usually keep thank-you messages. But I kept this one. It arrived at 2:49 AM. “I needed to change… and your words changed me.” I read it several times. Not because it praised me. But because it reminded me why I chose this profession. We often believe our greatest contribution is making the right diagnosis or prescribing the right treatment. Over the years, I’ve learned something different. People may forget the medication you prescribed. They rarely forget how you made them feel. A conversation that seems ordinary to you… May become the turning point in someone else’s life. That’s why I try to leave every patient, every student, and every interaction with more than information. I hope to leave them with hope. Real success is not measured by how many people you meet. It is measured by how many people leave believing they can become a better version of themselves. Some achievements are never added to a CV. They are written quietly in someone else’s life.
