To support the development of a new residential development next to the iconic Queen Victoria Market, Downer has delivered new fibre alignments to help strengthen digital capacity in one of the Melbourne CBD’s most high-profile and complex environments. Works crossed a number of power, gas and water services, with crews carefully coordinating the construction alongside local authorities, businesses and residents to minimise disruption and help keep the city moving. Cultural heritage advisors, and on-site monitors also ensured that there was no disruption to culturally significant and historic areas within the work zones. By balancing stakeholder needs, environmental considerations and heritage requirements, the project team created a safe, compliant and efficient pathway to increase capacity and future proof essential communications infrastructure.
