⚡ From the first transmission lines strung across New South Wales in 1951 to Australia’s largest transmission project spanning three states, Downer has been building the transmission lines powering the nation for more than 70 years. Transgrid's EnergyConnect project is the next chapter in that story. Stretching 700 kilometres across New South Wales to Victoria and South Australia, #EnergyConnect will link state electricity grids for the first time in many decades - unlocking renewable energy zones and strengthening reliability across the national network. Working in collaboration with our client Elecnor Australia and delivery partners, Downer successfully delivered the construction of approximately 100 kilometres of 330kV double-circuit transmission line between Balranald and Hay, NSW covering access, foundations, tower assembly, erection and stringing. This follows the completion of the South Australian component of EnergyConnect in 2023 - a 206-kilometre high-voltage transmission line between the Bundey Substation and the SA–NSW border. This is power infrastructure of national significance. Complex. Large-scale. Built to perform for generations. With more than seven decades of experience in transmission, Downer continues to be a trusted partner - delivering the transmission superhighways that connect communities, enable renewables and support Australia’s energy future.
