I took the opportunity this week to find out what VC firms were thinking about the SpaceX IPO. By going public, SpaceX is welcoming a lot of new eyes on the space industry, but the vast majority of the companies in this sector remain reliant on private capital. So what does the IPO mean for those companies and the VC funds backing them? Generally speaking, the VCs I spoke with were extremely bullish on the impact this will have on the broader industry. SpaceX will throw a ton of new liquidity into the market, and arm SpaceX employees with a weath of new capital to start ventures of their own—and VC firms are no stranger to backing SpaceX employees. Clearly, this is the beginning of something much bigger than SpaceX. Cannot thank the VC world enough for taking time to share their insights with me. Michael A. Brown, Taylor Sargent, Bulent Altan, Chad Anderson, Daniil Chen, Bogdan Gogulan, Matthew Blain, Van Espahbodi, and Mark Boggett—I'm really excited to see what comes next! Will put the full story in the comments...
