What began as a childhood passion for transport has evolved into much more than a profession, it has become a calling. Today, Adrien works on projects that have a much bigger impact on our lives than you would expect. Adrien Cros, please tell us more about your role at Dornier. At Dornier, I pop-up whenever the words "bus" or "train" are spoken. This means I work on a wide variety of projects, such as infrastructure development (e.g. conceptual planning of rail lines) or the modernization of transport networks (e.g. electrification of buses). What makes this role so special is that every project brings something fresh, unique local characteristics and new opportunities for innovation. In short, there’s never a dull moment. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗼𝘆𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲. Since I was a child, I’ve been what people would call a "transport nerd", a person who knows most stations and timetables throughout the country instead of football players. As being an enthusiast doesn't necessarily mean having practical solutions, I started my career working for transport operators. These 13 years before switching to Consulting allowed me to confront theory and ideals with real life and hard economics, learning the meaning of best possible compromise. Moving to Dornier was the logical next step, as I wanted to provide clients with down-to-earth, practical and implementable expertise for the sake of more efficient and sustainable public transport. 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴. Listen to people, stay humble, be open-minded and never approach a situation with bias. Every project is different, and the key to success is spending enough time understanding the client's real (and sometimes blurry) desire before jumping into implementation. Cutting corners at early stage of a project often triggers larger setbacks later on. Behind every successful project are people with unique passions, experiences and perspectives.
