I'm sure this will result in a lot of pushback and even hate mail, but when did LinkedIn become the global obituaries column? Since I joined, I've lost my father, my mother, and my best friend. And I never once thought about posting about any of that here. (BTW, my best friends profile is still active on LI). Did those losses impact my work, goals, and general life attitude...you bet. But so did everything else good and bad in my life. I'm not sure where we should draw the line between who we are, what happens to us, and how we respond, but for me there is still a pretty clear line between my professional and personal life.
