35 meters below Vienna, one of the city’s most important infrastructure projects is taking shape: the U2xU5 Metro expansion. 🚇 With a new fully automated metro line (U5) and the extension of the U2, additional capacity is being created for climate-friendly urban mobility. At the Neubaugasse station, the skewed intersection block stands out as one of the most geometrically complex areas. Where tunnel tubes intersect at varying angles, formwork solutions are required that are precisely tailored to the geometry, construction sequence and logistics. Doka supplied a modular SL-1 formwork traveller, consisting of two segments in the standard section and extended by a third segment in the skewed intersection area. Complemented by two identical intersection formwork travellers, these geometrically demanding interfaces can be formed with high precision, ensuring the exact execution of these complex structural transitions. As main formwork supplier, Doka has been involved in the project since 2021, starting at Matzleinsdorfer Platz and continuing across key stations such as Neubaugasse. This long-term involvement supports a consistent understanding of construction sequences and site requirements. With detailed 3D planning and precisely adapted system solutions, our solutions make it work, supporting reliable workflows underground. 🚀 Thanks to ARGE U2 17-21 (Strabag, Porr) and Wiener Linien for the strong collaboration. 🤝 More about the project here 👇: https://lnkd.in/dR-_kzzh #Doka #Tunnel #Construction #Infrastructure #Formwork #U2U5
