Curved? Folded? We make it work. 💪 The renovation of the Maria Ward School in Bamberg features impressive exposed-concrete archways with a diameter of over 3 meters, supported by extremely slender pillars. Monolithic concrete pouring, precise edges, and a uniform formwork grid with panel joints at the center of the arches create a harmonious appearance. On top of this are spectacular, multi-folded concrete roofs that are skillfully integrated into the historic surroundings. The implementation was anything but easy: connecting to historically protected parts of the building, complex geometries, very limited storage space, and high standards for the concrete surfaces. Using BIM planning and specially developed formwork solutions, we were able to overcome these challenges together with Riedel Bau Firmengruppe .
