What happens when you return to the same environmental challenge year after year? You start to see progress. For the third consecutive year, DNV volunteers and local partners removed invasive Pacific oysters from the shoreline outside our headquarters near Oslo, Norway. This time, we noticed fewer oysters than before. We cannot be certain this is the result of our efforts alone, as other factors may also play a role, but the municipality continues to encourage consistent, repeated action, which we see as a positive sign. The beach becomes safer for swimmers, while the population of native mussels and oysters get space to recover. While we were working, representatives from the Directorate of Fisheries stopped by and confirmed that the clean-up aligns with local regulations for removing invasive Pacific oysters. The collected shells are being reused in circular solutions, including soil enhancement for parks and as an additive in lime paint. A sincere thank you to all colleagues who volunteered their time and effort, and to local companies Kinnarps and Arba, for contributing to this joint initiative. The clean-up is carried out together with No17 Nosytten and Bærum kommune, and it is the shared commitment that makes it possible year after year. Some environmental challenges cannot be solved in one step, but they can be managed through steady, informed action.
