An educational and scientific exposure visit was organized for trainees of CRIS DNA Labs,East Hope Town,from diverse academic backgrounds, including Forensic Science, Biotechnology, Biosciences, and Pharmaceutical Sciences, representing various states such as Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Gujarat. The visit was conducted at the Zoological Survey of India, Northern Regional Centre, Dehradun. The programme was held under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Gaurav Sharma, Scientist-F and Officer-in-Charge, Northern Regional Centre, ZSI, along with the esteemed scientific team of ZSI. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ankita Singh, Deputy Director and Scientist, CRIS DNA Labs, and Mr. Dogra, while Dr. Narotam Sharma, Managing Director and Scientist, CRIS DNA Labs, extended his support and guidance in absentia. The programme commenced with a ceremonial lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and scientific excellence. This was followed by a plantation drive and a pledge-taking ceremony dedicated to environmental conservation, nature protection, and the ideals of Swachh Bharat. The trainees were provided with an enriching tour of the ZSI museum, where they explored valuable zoological collections and gained insights into India's rich faunal diversity. A laboratory visit was also organized, enabling participants to understand various scientific methodologies, specimen preservation techniques, biodiversity documentation practices, and ongoing research activities undertaken by ZSI. A highly interactive lecture and discussion session was conducted by Dr. Gaurav Sharma, who shared his expertise on biodiversity, wildlife conservation, taxonomy, and the role of scientific research in environmental sustainability. The session encouraged active participation from trainees and provided them with a deeper understanding of career opportunities and research prospects in biological sciences and allied fields.
