How do you make kicking a real football at a LEGO wall feel genuinely satisfying? That was the challenge behind this interactive LEGO FIFA experience, built for a live event installation. Players physically kick a football at a LEGO brick wall. Every successful hit destroys part of the wall, reveals the goalkeeper, creates new gameplay situations, and ultimately leads to scoring a goal. My role was to design an audio system that transforms these physical interactions into an engaging arcade experience, where every action feels immediate, rewarding, and fun. Designing Impact: A real football already provides physical feedback. The audio needed to amplify that feeling without becoming noisy or repetitive. To achieve this, I created: - randomised ball impacts - layered LEGO brick destruction - progressive wall collapse - impact variations based on the destruction size Instead of hearing the same sound every kick, the system evolves naturally, making the gameplay feel alive. Giving Personality to the Goalkeeper: The goalkeeper isn't just an obstacle. He becomes a character. I designed a dedicated sound set for: - appearance - movement - side-stepping - jumps - ball blocks - playful reactions These subtle character sounds make the game feel far more animated while supporting the LEGO aesthetic. Reward System: Arcade games live or die by their feedback. I designed reward sounds that clearly communicate success while keeping the gameplay energetic: - timer start - scoring - goal celebrations - crowd reactions - gameplay music Everything was composed around a shared D Major tonal centre, creating a playful musical identity in which SFX and music naturally complement each other rather than compete. Built for Implementation The assets were delivered as clean, production-ready files for Unreal Engine integration. The sound package includes: - randomised impact variations - modular destruction layers - character SFX - reward sounds - music - isolated implementation-ready assets This structure allows designers and programmers to mix, randomise, and expand the system without additional editing. Result The prototype established the overall direction. After refining the interaction design, adding character animation sounds, improving destruction feedback, and strengthening the gameplay rhythm, the client approved the new direction and requested the complete isolated sound library for Unreal Engine implementation before continuing production.
