More than 100 research units. One mission. What does that tell us about cancer research today? 🔍 It reflects the complexity of cancer itself. Cancer is one of the most complex diseases of our time. Understanding it better and developing new approaches for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment requires expertise from many different disciplines. Bringing together expertise across disciplines helps researchers uncover connections that might otherwise remain hidden, opening new avenues for scientific discovery. At DKFZ, more than 100 research units address challenges across the full spectrum of cancer research — from uncovering molecular mechanisms and advancing imaging technologies to leveraging data science and developing innovative therapeutic approaches. Among them are 26 Independent Junior Research Groups and 6 Junior Clinical Cooperation Units, reflecting DKFZ's commitment to supporting the next generation of researchers and strengthening the link between research and clinical practice.
