Public Policy and Good Governance Fellow 🌍 Strengthening the Science–Policy Interface for Climate Action

🌍 I am delighted to share that our recent publication, "Evaluating the Effects of Climate Change on Salt Farming Practices Among Adivasi Communities in Little Rann of Kutch (Gujarat)" πŸ“˜ Climate Change, Food Security, and Land Management Published by Springer Nature. This research explores how climate change is reshaping the livelihoods of the Agariya (Adivasi/Indigenous) salt farming communities in the Little Rann of Kutch, Gujarat. Through a mixed-methods approach combining field interviews and literature review, we examine the impacts of changing rainfall patterns, rising temperatures, groundwater depletion, sea-level rise, and extreme weather events on one of India's oldest traditional occupations. Our research emphasises that climate adaptation must go beyond technological solutions. Sustainable livelihoods require the following: 1. Climate-smart infrastructure and renewable energy adoption. 2. Protection of Indigenous knowledge systems. 3. Equitable market access and institutional support. 4. Responsible groundwater governance. 5. Community-centred policy interventions that strengthen resilience while safeguarding fragile ecosystems. This publication reinforces the importance of integrating environmental sustainability, Indigenous livelihoods, climate justice, and public policy in addressing the complex challenges posed by climate change. I sincerely thank my co-authors: Dr. Maneesh Dubey Dr. Veenu for their valuable collaboration throughout this research. I am also grateful to the editors and Springer Nature for providing a platform to contribute to the growing scholarship on climate change, food security, and sustainable land management. I look forward to engaging with researchers, policymakers, and practitioners working at the intersection of climate resilience, Indigenous communities, environmental governance, and sustainable development. #Springer #ClimateChange #FoodSecurity #LandManagement #IndigenousCommunities #Adivasi #SaltFarming #ClimateJustice #Sustainability #EnvironmentalPolicy #PublicPolicy #ClimateAdaptation #Gujarat #Research #Academia #SustainableDevelopment #SDGs
