In AR systems, image quality is defined by how well the optics perform in real application scenarios. For example: How uniform is the image across the entire field of view? Are both optical channels perfectly aligned? Does distortion affect spatial perception? These directly impact how users perceive AR images and overall system performance. We develop application-specific test setups to characterize imaging systems under realistic conditions. Using dedicated calibration targets, we measure parameters such as MTF and distortion, analyze alignment between optical components, and compare results with simulation data. Based on this, correction data can be generated to optimize system performance. This approach enables not only reliable validation, but also targeted improvement of AR/VR systems during development. From lab-based characterization to production-ready solutions, we support our customers in bringing high-performance AR optics into real-world applications.
