The traditional IT project management career ladder is broken. 🚨 Historically, a professional entered the field and spent their formative years doing the heavy lifting of manual execution. Attending meetings, capturing minutes, onboarding resources, and managing training plans were the traditional "L1 and L2 graduation" milestones before moving into strategic management. But with the advent of AI agents, these exact execution-level patterns are the first things being offloaded. This creates a critical question for leadership: How do emerging project managers build real "wire experience" and mature if the foundational practice ground they used to learn on is being automated away? We are moving rapidly out of an era of manual execution and directly into an era of System Architecture and Prompt Engineering. The core competency is shifting. True professional maturity will no longer be measured by running manual processes, but by knowing how to direct, leverage, and architect ideas through AI. At Meridian Intellgia Solutions, we are looking closely at this shift. Over the next few days, I will be sharing a 3-part series detailing a new maturity framework designed to solve this L1/L2 gap and redefine how human-AI hybrid teams work in tandem. Fellow PM Leaders and CIOs: How are you preparing your junior teams for this shift? Let’s discuss in the comments. #ProjectManagement #ArtificialIntelligence #GenerativeAI #ITStrategy #ThoughtLeadership
