🇨🇾🕊️The past few weeks have once again been full of intense political and geopolitical developments in the Southeastern Mediterranean. Under challenging circumstances, we covered the crucial parliamentary elections in the Republic of #Cyprus. Thanks to the invaluable contribution of one of our best political correspondents and investigative reporters, Loucianos Lyritsas, we were able to deliver thorough coverage despite having only one reporter on the island, who literally gave it his all ✌️🫶 The coverage included Reels for TikTok, video content for DW Europe, online background, breaking news for DW Greek, a #Mappedout episode for DW News plus reporting for #InsideEurope and a collaboration with #DWBrussels in view of the EU Presidency of Cyprus the last months. The story of the new political force, the anti-system “Direct Democracy” party of the YouTuber, influencer and MEP -described by some as Russia-friendly is a clear sign of the new era we have entered: an era in which geopolitics, social media and AI are increasingly merging into a new meta-political public sphere. 🇬🇷🏺🏛️Next stop: Greece. Greece is heading into a highly tense electoral period in the next months, marked by a fragmented political landscape and growing polarization, shortly before it assumes the EU Presidency in 2027: EU-Enlargememt, Migration, Ukraine and Middle East will dominate the discussions. And it seems that, by then, even Trump may have passed by the Acropolis… At a time of radical transformation within DW Greek, we remain at the frontline of quality journalism for the Southeastern Mediterranean: reaching 4–6 million users per month across all platforms, recording more than 120% growth in online page views according to SEO Reports, surpassing 2 million social media (TikTok & FB) views in May… and, as a surprise, achieving 600% growth on YouTube thanks to Shorts according official data. It’s not a miracle but the result of great team work driven by DW Greek’s ambition, courage and commitment to journalism- with the help of new useful tools that have speeded our production up, Thank you #DWGreek 🩷Thank you Adelheid Feilcke for your support and trust day and night 🙏💫
