Receiving this Gold Stevie Award at the 23rd Annual American Business Awards alongside other iconic companies like Google, Applied Systems, IBM, Southwest Airlines, State Farm and others, is a special moment -- it's a powerful reminder of how far we've come over the last five years. Quick story: It was April 2020. The pandemic was in full force, public markets were crashing, the USNS Comfort had just docked in NYC. We were in full on crisis mode... I still remember an investor calling me with some well-intentioned advice: "Hey man, you had a good run, but the world has changed. You should probably consider shutting the company down -- or at least furlough your staff so you get to live another day..." The next day, we had an all-hands where I told the team: "...We’ve been hit by a tsunami and need to rebuild. Many of you have reached out to ask me what will happen to the company. We can’t control what happens in the world, but we can control how we react to it. These are uncertain times, but let’s get right to it... I’m here to tell you that everyone has a job, and we’re going to get through this together. And if we can pull it off, this will be a heroic act worthy of sharing with everyone one day -- I really hope you keep a journal during this period because history is happening right in front of us and you have a chance to write it. And one day, you’ll be the ones telling future colleagues about the ‘good old days’ and how we survived this pandemic. We are going to bet on ourselves because this is a team worth betting on all day long. All I ask is that you prove us right..." Here we are, 5 years later... - We've had multiple week over week records. Last week was our best week ever in Sharebite's history; yesterday was our best Monday ever. - We serve the most important & forward-thinking companies in the world. - We've built award winning technology & products that have changed the game. - We're part of a truly global platform (Prosus Group -- effectively the third-largest food delivery company in the world). - Most of the people who were on that all-hands in April 2020 are still with us today. - And our mission remains the same: to get every worker in America fed -- the entire country is counting on our team to make our vision a reality.
