Open House at one of Europe’s biggest timber constructions. As part of the Bayerische Architektenkammer Architektouren 2026, our colleagues Annabell Aichele and Fredi Botz guided visitors through the TUM Campus at the Olympic Park in Munich last week. Now that the campus is complete and fully in use, it is especially rewarding to see the building in its true test: everyday life. This is what makes revisiting TUM Campus so exciting for us. Looking back, one of the project’s quiet achievements was not only its scale, but the way it was realised: in phases, while the existing campus remained in operation. New hall clusters, the cafeteria, library, western canopy, the Rue intérieure and major technical infrastructure were built first; former sports halls were then replaced and further office and campus areas added in subsequent phases. A rare chance to look back, while the building has already moved on.
