𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲, 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀? In the Vägga area in Karlshamn municipality, water is both an asset and a risk. The coastal location, combined with low-lying buildings, requires coordinated flood management now and in the long term. Together with Karlshamn municipality, DHI has developed an integrated strategy for flood protection. Using advanced modelling in MIKE+, climate-adapted protection levels have been defined for several time horizons and linked to technically feasible and socio-economically motivated measures. The proposed measures deliver estimated socio-economic benefits of EUR 1–10 million — equipping the municipality with a robust, decision-ready roadmap for a safer, more resilient Vägga.
