🗣️⚽ From the classroom to the press box, the next generation of African sports writers and creators are telling the stories of the #Bundesliga all over the continent. 🤝 Together with Canal+ University, the Bundesliga set out to equip talent young journalists from across Francophone Africa with the skills to tell the stories that move the game forward, as part of the Bundesliga Canal+ Media Academy. 📝 Alongside learning core skills from established journalists at CANAL+ Group, the group had the opportunity to put their skills to the test, taking part in Media Round Tables that reflected the Bundesliga’s commitment to Africa across all levels. From RB Leipzig’s Viola Odebrecht, to Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Bundesliga Media highlighting their respective approaches to reaching new audiences in Africa, the programme gave the group a wide-range of topics to delve into. A highlight for all was speaking directly with TSG Hoffenheim Fußball-Spielbetriebs GmbH and Ivory Coast striker Bazoumana Touré on his performances in the Bundesliga and his hopes for the future. 🥇 With highly engaged participants delivering meaningful questions to go behind the scenes of German football, it was a thoroughly rewarding event for not only the journalists, but also the clubs and league representatives taking part. Every participant completed the programme, earning their certification, and takes another step in the varied world of sports media. Furthermore, the panel made up of Bundesliga and CANAL+ executives selected Eddy Abayisenga and Mbayo Deborah as two outstanding participants, and both will have the opportunity to join a Bundesliga media visit next season. ℹ️ This initiative is the latest milestone in the long-standing partnership between the Bundesliga and leading Francophone broadcaster Canal+, underlining their shared commitment to developing talent and fostering innovation in sports media on the continent. Further, this project reflects the Bundesliga’s broader commitment to support the development of football: not only on the pitch, but far beyond it — through education, storytelling, and opportunity. After opening an office in Johannesburg earlier this season, the Bundesliga signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the South African Football Association, working across all levels of football participation and promotion. Furthermore, RB Leipzig have just completed their post-season tour of South Africa, and highlighting the importance of the region. We look forward to welcoming the two successful participants to Germany next season!
