What happens when you mix schoolkids, neutrinos, and a South Pole research station? The International IceCube Masterclass, which is taking place at DESY in Zeuthen! The schoolkids get a real privilege: to slip into the shoes of researchers and analyse real data from the IceCube Detector, the huge international neutrino telescope buried in ice at the South Pole. A particular highlight: a live feed to the South Pole! The kids could directly speak with researchers stationed there and have their questions answered. This is not only taking an abstract classroom concept and turning it into real hands-on research: it's also perhaps the first steps into a scientific career and future.
