This week we celebrated the official launch of the Northern Chip Network e.V. - an initiative that brings together Northern Germany’s strengths in research, education, and industry to accelerate innovation in microelectronics across the entire value chain. As a key technology for addressing challenges in energy, mobility, automation, and digitalization, microelectronics requires close collaboration across disciplines and sectors. DESY is a founding member and will put forward its' analytical capabilities in X-ray technologies for R&D for new (photonic) materials, chip reliability testing, or material and layer characterization to enable deeper insights and faster development cycles. The NCN provides a structured platform to connect expertise, foster knowledge transfer, and strengthen the region’s position as a leading, resilient microelectronics ecosystem. A big thanks to all the guests who attended the official launch, the speakers Stephan Marauska, Julia Carstens, Eva Gümbel, and panelists Jonas Gobert, Michael Timmermann, Torsten Spinty, and Selina Storm as well as our moderator Marina Tcharnetsky. Thank you for coming to campus for the launch and looking forward to new projects for a key technology. Pictures by Mathis Hanke
