As Dan puts it, their paintings are "completely loose and thoughtful, not at all flashy". His mastery of the female figure, especially in costume, is remarkable. He draws inspiration from the ancient traditions of Romanticism and Symbolism. His sumptuous surfaces, colors and lighting are in harmony with his expressionistic brushwork, application and modeling of light and shadows. His paintings are sensitive and evocative creations, which dramatize his bold and ambitious technique. The painter describes himself. One of the highlights of my trip to France was my visit to the Saint Paul Psychiatric Hospital in Saint-Rémy.
