Spreading Art, Sowing Happiness The way of art makes life more beautiful! #art #contemporaryart #artgallery #artist #paintings #france #oil #happiness International Artists | Art Collection | Literature | Music | Visual His oil paintings set off the image of the characters with a variety of different lights, so beautiful! Dan was born in Kivascombe, Wisconsin in 1965. Kewaskum, Wisconsin, where he now lives with his wife Jennifer and their young children, Dan's interest in art became apparent in his early teens. His studies at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois and his interest in museums and modern masters such as John Singer Sargent, Alphonse Mucha, Nicolas Fechin, Joaquin Sorolla, Karl von Marr and many other French and American Impressionists inspired him. Dan was particularly interested in and appreciative of modern Russian art and the extravagant oil paintings of painters Nicolai Fechin, Isaac Levitan and Ilya Repin. As Dan puts it, their paintings are "completely loose and thoughtful, not at all flashy". His mastery of the female figure, especially in costume, is remarkable. He draws inspiration from the ancient traditions of Romanticism and Symbolism. His sumptuous surfaces, colors and lighting are in harmony with his expressionistic brushwork, application and modeling of light and shadows. His paintings are sensitive and evocative creations, which dramatize his bold and ambitious technique. The painter describes himself. One of the highlights of my trip to France was my visit to the Saint Paul Psychiatric Hospital in Saint-Rémy. As I entered the beautiful cloisters and gardens where Vincent van Gogh walked, I felt that this beautiful, serene setting was in stark contrast to the inner turmoil I knew Van Gogh to be in. This gave me new insights into both his artistic value and his journey.
