Yesterday, we marked #WorldHearingDay by highlighting how early diagnosis of hearing loss can change a child’s life. Today, we want to bring that message to life through a colleague whose own story shows exactly why hearing care matters - at every age. Meet our colleague: Véronique Rohaert As Coordinator at Demant’s Hearing Care at AUDIKA in Belgium, Véronique brings more than professional expertise into every conversation with hearing aid users - she brings lived experience. Diagnosed with hearing loss as a child, Véronique learned early how access to hearing care can shape confidence, participation and opportunity. Instead of hiding her hearing aids, she chose openness. “I would go around school saying, ‘Look at my hearing aids! Aren’t they nice?’” she laughs. “They made me feel strong.” That same openness defines her today. Whether she’s working in the clinic or sharing her journey on international stages - including the European Parliament, where she spoke last year during a debate arranged by European Hearing Instrument Manufacturers Association (EHIMA) - Véronique continues to challenge stigma and raise awareness about hearing loss. Her story is a powerful reminder that hearing care isn’t just about hearing sounds. It’s about enabling children (and adults) to take part in life fully, confidently and without limitations. “Why should hearing aids be hidden or seen as something only for older people?” Véronique asks. “I do anything in life with a hearing loss.” Thank you, Véronique, for reminding us why early access to hearing care matters, and for showing what’s possible when we choose to be heard. #MeetOurColleague
