🌍 How can Large Language Models (LLMs) support transboundary water management? At Deltares, we are exploring how LLMs can complement hydrological models by analysing large volumes of multilingual policy documents. This enables water management measures across international river basins, such as the Rhine, to be identified and structured more efficiently.   In a recent proof of concept, an agentic data mining system extracted tens of thousands of relevant measures and associated metadata from policy documents. These insights can help experts better understand how upstream interventions may influence water safety and water availability downstream.   This work is still in the exploratory phase, and human expertise remains key to validate and interpret the results.
