Lock guide rails are exposed to sediment abrasion, corrosion, constant water contact and mechanical loads, often at the same time. That is exactly why the surface matters. One current project is a 2.70 m guide rail for a lock gate on the Mosel river, coated with The process itself is highly technical. The benefit is straightforward: a wear-resistant surface that maintains dimensional stability over time, ensuring reliable gate operation and helping extend maintenance intervals. Across the full 2.70 m length, Ultimetยฎ is applied layer by layer with controlled heat input. Coating geometry and layer quality must remain consistent throughout the component. In lock gate applications, even small deviations can affect long-term performance. This is what wear protection looks like in practice: engineered for real operating conditions, real loads and long service life. โ๏ธ #HydraulicSteelStructures #LaserCladding #Ultimet #WearProtection #Locks #Engineering
