Nobody ever got fired for choosing IBM or AT&T. I get it. It's hard to argue with keeping the status quo. That safety net provides a certain level of confidence that, even if you might not excel, you won't fail. And while I understand that impulse, I can't subscribe to that philosophy. The complacency and acceptance that come with that mindset are completely antithetical to how I view the world. There's no reward without risk. No glory without adventure.
