AI Act implementation in Germany: A key step towards trustworthy AI 🤖 Germany has reached an important milestone on the path to implementing the EU AI Act. With the adoption of the national implementation legislation by the Bundesrat, the framework for market surveillance and notification can now be signed into law and promulgated. It will enter into force on the day following its promulgation. We welcome Germany’s approach Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation (Bundesministerium für Digitales und Staatsmodernisierung) explicitly, which builds on proven product compliance structures while preserving sector-specific expertise where third-party conformity assessment is required. The Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) will play a central role in coordinating market surveillance and supporting the implementation of the AI Act. Now, we must pivot to execution:  🔹 A strong and efficient ecosystem requires close cooperation between the Bundesnetzagentur, DAkkS, and conformity assessment bodies. Only a coordinated approach will enable AI Act requirements to be implemented consistently, efficiently, and in a way that supports innovation. 🔹 DEKRA stands ready to contribute as a conformity assessment body and trusted partner for the private and public sector developing and deploying AI solutions.
