📢 Issue 39:1 of the International Journal of Iberian Studies is out now! I’m delighted to share that the special issue, ‘Performing Without Limits: A Special Issue on Peninsular Theatre’ (ed. A. Pujol) has just been published. The issue brings together a rich collection of articles examining Peninsular theatre, with a focus on performance, memory, translation, and contemporary challenges. 🔎 Highlights include: Clare E. Nimmo on Civil War echoes in the plays of Carmen Conde, Amanda Junquera, María Zambrano, Nieves Rodríguez and Paula Paz; Simon Breden & Noelia López-Souto on translation and trauma in Juan Mayorga’s theatre; Antoni Maestre Brotons on masculinity and mental distress in Catalan drama; and Alma Prelec on autobiographical theatre in Teatro de la Resistencia’s GRAD. The Open Forum article includes a conversation with artist Olga Diego (by Eva Bru-Dominguez & Ana Vera) 📚 The issue also features insightful book reviews covering recent publications on Spanish cinema, Portuguese democracy, and media during the Iberian transitions, by Lidia Merás, Rita Luis and Teresa Pinheiro. A fantastic contribution to current debates in Iberian cultural and performance studies.
