Minister for Fisheries Dame Angela Eagle has been in Barcelona, visiting the world's largest seafood expo, as well as meeting with a range of stakeholders.   🦀 At the Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global, she announced an annual £1.5 million of funding through a renewed Seafood Export Package, and met with UK businesses to understand the potential threats to our seafood industry.   🍊On Wednesday, the Minister met with Spanish Agriculture and Fisheries Secretary Luis Planas, to discuss the importance of a UK-EU SPS Agreement to UK-Spain trading relationship. Spain is our largest supplier of fruit and veg, with £4.2bn of agri-food trade flowing between our two countries.   🚜Later that day the Minister visited Earth Rover, a UK agri-tech company pioneering the use of smart innovative technologies, AI and robotics for chemical‑free weed control and crop scouting. While there, she also visited the Barcelona School of Agri-Food and Biosystems Engineering. The message was clear: the UK is backing innovation that moves from the lab to the field.   🍇At Familia Torres, one of Spain's most respected wine producers, the focus was on what climate-resilient, regenerative agriculture looks like in practice.    A busy week promoting British trade and industry on the global stage.
