The Defence Industry Development Strategy 2026 (DIDS26) was officially launched yesterday. DIDS26 sets a clear direction for strengthening Australia’s defence capability, economic resilience, and sovereign industrial base, placing industry at the centre of national security. Building on the 2024 strategy and aligned with the 2026 National Defence Strategy and the Integrated Investment Program, DIDS26 forms part of the Government’s biennial review of Defence’s strategic policy settings and introduces targeted initiatives to accelerate capability delivery to the ADF, enhance workforce skills, and deepen our industrial and international partnerships. These efforts will enable Australian businesses to scale and compete globally, mitigate critical dependencies and risks, and ensure Defence can access the capabilities it needs at speed - driving jobs, growth, and a more resilient, self-reliant Australia.
