How can products live longer? That was the question at the NIM Decisions Day, where an outstanding line-up of speakers explored the megatrend of longevity. The conversations centred on long-lasting product strategies, the circular economy, repairability, sustainable brand management and markets in transition. Most brands obsess over the beginning of the customer journey, but Joe Macleod argues that the final experience often has the greatest influence on how a brand is remembered. His contribution adds a crucial dimension to the longevity conversation: we cannot design truly long-lasting, sustainable brands without intentionally designing the goodbye.
