The discussions initiated during the webinar "Architecture in the Aftermath: Rebuilding Hope from Disasters" continue in our reflective article, "From Response and Recovery to Resilience", recently published in the UIA Magazine. Developed within the UIA Work Programme "Natural and Human Disasters", the article was written together with Roberto Rocchi (Architects' Council of Europe) and Tony S. F. Wong (ARCASIA Emergency Architects), bringing together different regional perspectives on a common global challenge. Reflecting on preparedness, Disaster Risk Reduction, post-disaster reconstruction and resilient communities, we argue that resilience cannot be achieved through technical measures alone. It also requires an understanding of the social, cultural and institutional contexts in which communities live and recover. š Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/e_8vCMUS #UIA #Architecture #DisasterRiskReduction #Preparedness #ResilientCommunities #BuiltEnvironment
