not long ago, someone shared they had the perfect job for me since I was approaching my sunset years. This is what a sunset year looks like. - Jumped into a new role that was completely different than any other role I've had in the past as Chief Experience Officer at Modern Executive Solutions, one of the the fastest growing search and consulting firms in the US. Big thank you to the visionary husband/wife founders Mark Oppenheimer and Michelle Domanico for building such a great place to make a differnence in the world. - Partnered with the incredible Larry Emond to facilitate conversations almost weekly at Modern roundtables with world class CHRO's. - Will be facilitating 25 future hr leaders at the Modern Future CHRO Academy. - Partnered with the fabulouos AJ Thomas to build an Modern AI and Humanity Fellowship Cohort that will not only leave you with a world class AI strategy and impact plan ... you'll be able to imagine and experience work with no PC, no keyboard, and no mouse... VR is coming. - won the Tony Hsieh Award for Innovation in the Future of Work and 2 Transform Awards, one for DEI and the other for L&D. - joined 4 HR Tech Advisory Boards - completed a 10 day ancient wisdom and leadership retreat with an extraordinary cohort in Bhutan... the guides nicknamed me "Strong Man." - watched on Christmas Eve my beautiful (inside and out) daughter Grace Stori, SHRM-CP "say yes" to my wonderful future son-in-law Drake Smedt on the foot of the Mountains in Patagonia, Chile. - approaching my 25 years of mostly illegal, still-starried-eyed marriage to my handsome husband, Mark Stori. - hosted summer-time dinners at our home in Santa Barbara for world class musicians in town for the Music Academy Festival. - paddled out on my board to honor the life of a dear friend at Patagonia, Micah Knox. - I even put on my UT-Austin Cheer uniform from 1987 and cheered on the field to watch Texas win first game of the season. If this is what a sunset year is - bring it on. And stay tuned... we have a lot of incredible things cooked up at Modern Executive Solutions for 2025. oh - and I turn (earn) 60 years today. Feels more like a sunrise than a sunset. peaces - Dean
