Congratulations to Deakin Distinguished Professor Felice Jacka OAM on being named the 2026 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Laureate for Asia and the Pacific. This global recognition celebrates decades of pioneering work in nutritional psychiatry, a field Professor Jacka helped establish through her research into the powerful connection between diet quality, mental health and brain health. Her work has transformed how we understand mental health care, showing that what we eat is not only linked to physical health, but is also a modifiable determinant of depression, anxiety and broader wellbeing. At a time when global food systems are under increasing scrutiny for their impact on human and planetary health, Professor Jacka’s research is more important than ever.
