dClimate Labs and Japanese agri-environmental firm Faeger Co. Ltd. have announced a new partnership to deploy AI-powered remote sensing tools across irrigated rice systems in the Philippines. The program will use dClimate Labs’ CYCLOPS platform to support identification and monitoring of Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) practices, a water-saving method shown to reduce methane emissions by up to 70%. The initiative focuses on mapping rice cultivation dynamics and monitoring post-harvest straw-burning to help prioritize AWD implementation zones. It combines Faeger’s on-the-ground experience with dClimate Labs’ environmental modeling capabilities, powered by the EarthOS foundation model. This is one of the first large-scale uses of AI-driven AWD mapping for rice methane mitigation in Southeast Asia. Read the full release: https://lnkd.in/eUbRaXWq
