Celebrating the spirit of exploration and scientific discovery! 🚀 On this International Day of Human Space Flight, the Department of Biotechnology, highlights India’s growing role in space biosciences. Through the Axiom-4 Mission—a collaborative effort between ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization, NASA, and ESA—BRIC DBT institutions pushed the boundaries of biology in microgravity under the DBT–ISRO MoU. 🔬 Our researchers explored: • The impact on edible algae to support sustainable life in space • Skeletal muscle dysfunction to ensure astronaut health and recovery • Cyanobacteria growth on urea to pioneer waste-to-resource systems From Earth to the International Space Station, these efforts continue to redefine what’s possible for humanity. #InternationalDayofHumanSpaceFlight #SpaceResearch Dr Jitendra Singh Rajesh Gokhale Institute of Life Sciences BRIC-National Institute of Plant Genome Research, India BRIC-Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (BRIC-inStem)
