Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) from India to Berlin. Together with our international partners, we have been supporting the metro projects in Bhopal and Indore as General Consultant since 2018. The visit was led by Christian Hünefeld, Director UK & Ireland, and NATARAJ K M, Executive Director India. The program focused on exchanging expertise and gaining firsthand insights into Berlin’s public transport system. The delegation visited key locations including Berlin Zoological Garden Station, Berlin Central Station and the U5, one of the city’s most modern metro lines. Discussions covered not only Berlin’s fare system and the development of major transport hubs, but also topics such as Transit Oriented Development, station design, passenger information systems and modern wayfinding concepts. International exchange between teams and partners shows how important integrated mobility concepts are for expanding urban areas and metropolitan regions. Seeing existing public transport systems in operation provides valuable insights for planning infrastructure that is efficient, user friendly and sustainable - both in Germany and in India.
