Regulators around the world are done waiting for retailers to “nudge” healthy food choices. More than 40 countries are now weaponizing food packaging itself. Summary Indonesia’s new regulations require red/yellow/green “nutri‑level” labels on packaged foods and menus within two years. Scores will be based on sugar, salt, and fat contents, effectively turning every pack into an obesity risk signal. With the UN reporting a rise in childhood obesity across the globe, the WHO now backs front‑of‑pack warnings to curb diet‑related disease, and evidence from PAHO/WHO, the Obesity Evidence Hub, and others shows interpretive labels drive healthier purchasing.
