A second trio from the cemetery church of St Johannes der Täufer (St John the Baptist) in Rot an der Rot, Baden-Württemberg, built 1737-41. The decoration is from 1740, overseen by Johann Georg Reusch, with frescoes by J. M. Blehle. A gallery runs completely around the very broad choir supported on delicate columns, continuing behind the high altar. Can anyone suggest why? I have seen this in pilgrimage churches (the Wieskirche and Maria Steinbach, recently shared, spring to mind) but why in a cemetery church? . . . #architecture #architecturephotography #architecturalphotography #architecturephotographer #architecturalphotographer #architecturelovers #historicarchitecture #historicbuildings #baroque #baroquearchitecture #baroqueart #barocco #barock #churchphotography #churchcrawling #historicchurch #germany #germanytourism #visitgermany #deutschland #architektur #architekturfotografie #badenwürttenberg #theländ #theland #visitbawu #bawü #rotanderrot
