End of Glenvernoch wind farm inquiry treat. Climbing the Merrick in Galloway. It is part of the “Range of the Awful Hand” in Galloway which is a series of 5 peaks, each forming a “finger”. If that name doesn’t make you want to climb it from Bruce’s Stone in Glen Trool then the views really should. The Merrick is the highest mountain in southern Scotland at 843 m and you can see for miles. I got beaten back by appalling weather on Wednesday which made it all the more worthwhile. Over the 5 hours, I saw just two other walkers out on the southern uplands. These are the days we live for. Have any of you (excluding Andy Cook because I know that he has) been up it? If you are a developer with an onshore wind development then do come and talk to us.
