Over the past few FIFA World Cup matches hosted at MetLife Stadium, I’ve had the opportunity to work at the venue while observing how different national teams prepare for competition. One aspect I’ve particularly enjoyed is analyzing each team’s pre-match warm-up. While the objective is the same to prepare players physically and mentally for kickoff every coaching staff has its own philosophy, sequence, and delivery. This clip is from England’s warm-up against Panama during the group stage. A few things that stood out: • Individual ball work and movement preparation • Dynamic mobility • Passing patterns • Possession play • Finishing • Sprint exposures before kickoff Every phase had a clear objective. It was another reminder that an effective warm-up isn’t about creating fatigue it’s about progressively preparing players for the demands of the match. One of the biggest takeaways from this experience has been seeing how different coaching staffs apply similar performance principles in their own unique way. The exercises may differ, but the intent behind them remains consistent. Experiences like these continue to reinforce the importance of observing, asking questions, and learning from practitioners at the highest level and keep developing my craft. #fifaworldcup
