Bernardo Pitanguy, son of Brazilian plastic surgeon to the stars Ivo Pitanguy, described his father as “the Michelangelo of modern medicine” when we spoke last week. Pitanguy transformed Brazil into a global hub for cosmetic procedures, with clients rumoured to have included Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot and François Mitterrand, the former French president. He also performed free reconstructive surgery for thousands of low-income patients with congenital deformities, cleft palates and burn scars. Now his private island, the most expensive in the history of South America, has gone on the market for $100 million. The buildings have plenty of curves - he says they were inspired by the beauty of the human body. https://lnkd.in/em6fdYgZ
